This summer we spent 4 weeks on the UP (Upper Peninsula) of Michigan. What a great place for kayaking. I decided to try out few rivers and started with the Manistique. The area received 6" of rain just before we arrived, and the river was running very fast. I paddled here last year, so I knew that it would be OK for a paddle, despite the flow. Last year this section took me 2 hours 45 min. (and I paddled pretty full on.) This year 2 hours 20 (and I took it pretty easy).

This section of the river runs right through the Seney National Wildlife refuge ( Alas, I saw very little wildlife) |

The most welcome sight- Bruce at the take out

Mead Creek Take Out . We camped here a few nights using it as a base camp for exploring the river |
It was a fun paddle, plenty of current made it so easy. A great flatwater paddle.
