Canada and Minnesota - The Kayakers' Paradise

View Summer 2011 in a larger map
A brief recount of our holiday for anyone interested. We spent the first three weeks in Quetico, which is a park in Ontario Canada. It is a canoe wilderness, which means there are no roads or motorized vehicles.,just hinders of lakes and rivers all interconnected. You can only get in there by paddling in. There is no cell phone service., just good old mother nature and lots of water.
It was absolutely amazing. We had to carry in all our food, but were able to supplement our freeze dried tucker with fresh fish we caught.  So to give you an idea, we would paddle until we found a nice campsite, pull up for a few days and spend the time fishing, swimming, paddling around and doing lots of reading. We took two hammocks,so considerable time was also spent laying about. We took our kindles and solar chargers, so we did lots of reading.
As far as animals, we saw beavers, otters, mink, muskrats turtles, a big garter snake and a big old bull moose.

After that we spent 4 weeks poking around Upper Michigan which is full of forests, lakes and rivers. WE had the car and drove from forest to forest, stopping and doing s similar routine to  that one mentioned earlier- lots of reading, fishing paddling and TAKING IT EASY.

We came hone via Niagara falls, which is always unbelievable. Its the 4th time I have been there, but its power never ceases to astound me.

We have to be two of the luckiest people on the planet.
